Tonight we were honored with a presentation from Pam and Alan Howell (along with their yellow lab, Sir) as representatives of a relatively new local chapter of Canine Companions for Independence.
CCI breeds dogs and at 8 weeks old the dog gets placed into a loving environment with volunteer caretakers who care for the dog and provide basic obedience training for the next year and a half. At that point the dogs move into training for Service Dogs, Hearing Dogs, Facility Dogs, or Skilled Companions. The reach and benefits that these service animals provide is amazing! Life changing for those in need.
The local chapter of CCI is having a fundraising event coming up on July 12th 7pm-9:30pm at Levity Live at the Collection in Oxnard. See Flyer below. Should be a fun event!
